Founder & Coach, Resilisent Resources
Through Resilience Resources LLC, Laura offers leadership coaching and philanthropic advising to individual donors, family foundations, and funder intermediaries. A leader in the field of social justice philanthropy since 1997, she delights in collaborating with clients who devote their lives and resources to both inner and outer transformation.
In the last 25 years, Laura has co-founded and directed three grantmaking organizations. From 2006-2012, she co-founded and directed Aepoch Fund, a spend-down foundation that supported artists, healers, activists, and movements engaged in transforming ecological, cultural, economic, and social conditions in the California Bay Area and nationally. As co-founder of Changemakers Fund, she promoted community-based philanthropy and organized hundreds of donors to direct their giving to social and environmental justice, from 1998-2005. During her tenure at Changemakers, she also served on the founding board of Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy, creating leadership development opportunities for young people entering the field. Through a long-term advising role with Kindle Project, Laura also helped launch the Indie Philanthropy Initiative, including a robust website for donor education about unconventional funding. More recently, she was the founding director of the Conflict Transformation Fund.
A recognized thought leader and seasoned facilitator, Laura has been sought out to design and facilitate workshops, trainings, and curricula related to leadership development, philanthropy, and social change for communities around the country.
Laura’s work in philanthropy was preceded by several years of immersion in the field of impact investing, and she brings that knowledge base to her current partnership with clients.
When not engaged with supporting people to do transformational work in the world, she enjoys writing poetry and creating impermanent eco-art. www.earthaltars.com.
